Faith Vision
In Exodus 14, God parted the Red Sea and provided dry ground for His people to cross over as their enemy pursued them. This path, provided by God, through the sea, provided freedom to Israel. It was this same sea that the LORD brought back over the enemy as they pursued His people. That miraculous display of God’s power caused Israel to respond with singing declaration of His power and their redemption in Chapter 15.
Yet before Chapter 15 ends, they begin to grumble again. After three days of their journey without water, they have reached a place where the water is bitter, and they are unable to drink. Their declarations of God’s power and redemption of His people just days before have now turned to grumblings of, “‘What are we to drink?’”
How often do we have the same mindset? As if to say, we forgot what You did yesterday, and today is hard. What if instead, we looked to Him in anticipation? The God who parted the sea yesterday can certainly tend to the difficulty of today. What if today we said, “Because of yesterday, I look to You and trust You for today (and all its difficulties)”?
God gave instructions to Moses, and as he obeyed, the water became sweet. Grumbling before God reveals our short-sighted vision. But faith says, “You have done it before, and You will do it again.”
Let’s have faith vision. He is “the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).
